The Lovers’ Seasons concert includes poetry and music of the Renaissance period related to love and the seasons of the year. Performed on a variety of period instruments including crumhorns (Tudor-period wind instruments), curtals (forerunners of the bassoon) and shawms (early oboes), this delightful concert is a perfect way to herald the spring.
The Gloucester Waites are modelled on the band of musicians run by the City of Gloucester in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. They take part in the annual Gloucester Day Parade. Recent performances have included a presentation of the ‘Seasons’ programme at Westbury-on-Trym, and a highly successful Christmas programme for Harvington Hall.
The event will be held in the recently refurbished Old Baptist Chapel, a late 15th century timber-framed building restored to show its incarnation as a late 17th/early 18th century Nonconformist meeting house.
Tickets are available in advance from the John Moore Museum, Church Street, Tewkesbury or on the door: £10.00 adults, £8.00 seniors & students, £6.00 children (includes refreshments)
