Hoglets to Hedgehogs

 

Western European hedgehogs are vulnerable to extinction in the UK, and in Gloucestershire, we are fortunate to have one of the remaining populations. Our talk will cover hedgehog conservation – their habitats, natural behaviours, predators and threats to their survival. Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue has been rehabilitating sick and injured hedgehogs for 12 years. We hand-rear orphaned hoglets and we aim to return rehabilitated hedgehogs back to the wild.  We will discuss the work of the rescue centre and ways people can help to conserve hedgehogs in their gardens.

 

Speaker

Emily Harper is studying for a PhD in hedgehog parasitology at Nottingham Trent University. She completed her Masters degree in Applied Ecology at the University of Gloucestershire, and has been rehabilitating hedgehogs with Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue since 2017.
