Seasonal music from 1300-1600: the Waites of Gloucester, with soprano Karen Jones, play a range of period instruments such as psalteries, recorders, crumhorns and curtals and introduce some often overlooked music from the later Middle-ages, and from Tudor times.

Biography

The Waites of Gloucester are modelled on the band of musicians run by the City of Gloucester in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. They are enthusiasts for the music of the renaissance. Apart from the pleasure of playing together, they particularly enjoy introducing people to a range of instruments they may never otherwise have seen, and which sound distinctly different to modern ears. Between them they have well over 100 instruments of the period.

They appreciate opportunities to visit new venues and bring some of the music of the Tudor and Jacobean periods to the attention of new audiences.
