Visit the beautiful timber-framed Old Baptist Chapel to meet members of the Sealed Knot’s Thomas Lord Grey’s parliament Regiment, who will be helping to defend the town from the royalist forces in Worcester.

Discover what life was like for soldiers and their families during the English Civil War (1642 – 1651), when Tewkesbury changed hands many times.  Come face to face with a musketeer and a pikeman and learn about the weapons and tactics during this period of history when the country was bitterly divided.  Also, find out about the vital support given by those who followed the armies.

At 11am and 3pm there will be special short presentations on 17th century weaponry.

Built around 1490, the Old Baptist Chapel has been restored to show its incarnation as a late 17th/early 18th century Nonconformist meeting house.  Most Baptists would have been keen supporters of Parliament during the English Civil War!
