What I enjoy about volunteering?:
Angela: “The most rewarding thing has been learning so much and been given so many opportunities to do new things, and being part of something important and interesting.”
Sue: “Enjoying being involved with other projects e.g. stitch story. Meeting and talking to visitors and sharing the history of Tewkesbury. Enjoying the peaceful setting and wildlife.”
Linda: “I was inspired by the history of the area, the countryside and the animals, as I grew up in London without much nature around me. When I retired it seemed like a great way to make new friends and learn new things, I looked forward to my regular Saturdays and the variety of people I met, both visitors and other volunteers. I loved talking to the visitors and explaining about the museum, John Moore and showing them round the merchant’s house with all the medieval history attached to it. In turn, I nearly always learnt something new from the visitors as well, about all sorts of subjects, countries they had lived in or visited and was enchanted by the interest most children had in history and wildlife when they could touch, dress up etc. when they would have had no interest in the classroom!”
We have YouTube videos and blogs from our volunteers, explaining what they do and enjoy about working in the museum, so why not take a look!
